Autumn Mist Farm has been raising Highland Cattle since 1998. Our herd is composed of the best American, Canadian and Scottish Genetics. We feel that our cattle have a diverse background in genetics. They trace back to Scottish folds such as Cullerne, Glengorm, Cladich, Douneside, Esk, Balmoral and Canadian Folds such as Windrush, Sunset, and Maple Lea.

We have been exclusively using Artificial Insemination in our herd for over 10 years. We store semen on over 30 different sires. A few of the sires that have been used include: Jock of Glengorm, Alasdair Ruadh of Cladich, GOF Broadstone, Rioghail of Balmoral, GOF Beau Geste, Maple Lea Grand Duke 50G, Gusgurlach of Windrush, to name a few. Please contact us if you have any questions about Artificial Insemination or visit our Sires page to view the sires that we are currently using.

We have been using embryo transfer in our breeding program for the last 4 years. We selected three top foundation females and have been working with different sire matings on these females. We have also purchased embryos from other farms and have 100% Scottish embryos stored in our tank that were imported from Scotland.

The goal of our breeding program is to raise superior beef cattle that excel on the rail and in the show ring. Our cattle are expected to wean a calf each year. We select for feet, legs and excellent udders. Our cattle are expected to maintain conformation that would win in the show ring. We select for cows that have excellent milking ability, growth, and temperament. Autumn Mist Farm has been able to make tremendous improvement through our utilization of Artificial Insemination and Embryo Transfer and our diligence to keep records on our cattle.
